Process of ISO 45001 Certification

2. Stage 2 Audit – The certification audit is conducted to verify that the organization’s health and safety management system meets ISO 45001 requirements. The auditor will check the effectiveness of the system by reviewing documentation and making sure any deviations found in the stage 1 audit has been rectified. The auditor will also provide a report that details the findings of the audit and make recommendations for improvement.

If your organization does not meet ISO 45001 requirements, the certification body will work with you to correct the deficiencies. If your organization passes both audit stages, the certification body will issue ISO 45001 certification. The certificate will typically be valid for 3 years.

Surveillance Audits and ISO 45001 Certification

An ISO certification body must conduct surveillance audits in order for your organization to maintain ISO 45001 certification throughout its validity period. ISO 45001 surveillance audits ensure that an organization is continuing to implement its health and safety management system effectively through its day-to-day operations. ISO surveillance audits are normally conducted once per year throughout the validity period.

The Recertification Audit for ISO 45001 Certification

A recertification audit is required for an organization to extend the validity period of their ISO 45001 certificate. The recertification audit is conducted to ensure that the organization’s health and safety management system is still in compliance with ISO 45001 requirements. The auditor will review the effectiveness of the system by conducting a documentation review, interviewing employees, and conducting a site visit.
